Miche Tetley

BA(Hons) Psych, MBACP Accred, Registered Member BACP

Qualifications and Training

My original degree was in Psychology and Neurophysiology, from Oxford University, which gave me a good working foundation in the neurophysiology of brain and behaviour.

I trained in Psychotherapy and Counselling at Spectrum - Centre for Humanistic Psychology. This is a rigorous and challenging training, including the following units:

Foundation in Counselling Skills, One Year Course in Psychotherapy, Post-Graduate Course in Psychotherapy, Gestalt Theory and Practice, Developing Clinical Skills, Working with Anger, Basic/Intermediate/Advanced Sexuality programmes, Transforming Relationships.

I also studied extensively with the Human Awareness Institute (HAI-UK) in the areas of Relationship, Intimacy and Sexuality, which equipped me with a range of tools and skills to aid people to improve their communication and relationships.

Regarding the outdoor work, I undertook a year-long intensive training in Nature Connection and Bush-craft Skills with Trackways in East Sussex, which included a 4 day Survival Quest in the wild. And I have completed the immersive “Art of Mentoring” program, which is a week-long, experiential, nature-based program designed to train individuals in the ancient skills of mentoring people in connection with nature, and applying these in communities.

I am a trauma-informed and trauma-sensitive therapist. This is my current area of active research and continued professional development.

I have also trained in energy psychology and healing, including shamanic methods, soul reading and Theta healing (Basic and Advanced).

Professional Credentials

I am a fully registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their Code of Conduct. I am in regular clinical supervision and strive to improve my practice through continued professional development opportunities.

I am currently applying to become a member of the Association for Therapeutic Healers (ATH), who are members of the Confederation of Healing Organisations (CHO).

Experience

I started off providing advice, guidance and counselling to young people for the Connexions Service, and working as a contact supervisor with children in Care.

I have been in private practice as a psychotherapist since 2008, working in London, Brighton, East Grinstead, Forest Row and Sheffield Park during that time, and seeing a wide range of clients bringing a variety of issues. I have also worked by phone and video call for 10 years and outdoors in nature for 7 years.

As a mother, parenting and the transition to parenthood are in my areas of experience. I see mothers with their babies alongside them, both in individual sessions and in group work, and outdoors in nature in my “Walk and Talk” service.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I was a gardener, garden designer and florist. I am a practicing artist and hold creativity at the heart of who I am and what I do.

My approach to supporting people can be holistic and transpersonal (including spirit and soul), if appropriate to the client, and enhanced by my training and experience in energy work and meditation.
