Research has repeatedly shown that the success of therapy depends on the quality of relationship and rapport between client and therapist, rather than the model (e.g. humanistic) they are working from. This means that it is important to find a counsellor or psychotherapist who you feel you can work with. Some people like to try out more than one person before they decide.
I like to work in a relaxed and friendly way. I will listen to you and respond to what you say with questions, reflections and opportunities for you to explore yourself and your experiences. You will have the chance to make sense of your history, express and manage your emotions, and develop new strategies and skills for everyday living.
If you are interested, our work can include dream work, cognitive techniques, anger management skills and art/drawing. Because I bring a variety of tools and skills to the work, therapy can be tailored to who you are and what suits you best. If I can’t offer you what you need, I will do my best to refer you to someone who can.
If the theoretical aspect of therapeutic work interests you, then you can visit the following pages for more detailed information. I practice from a humanistic, Gestalt and somatic / formative perspective.
